 By Staff

Sept. 15, 2008, 12:00 a.m. - The Prince George's County Office of Homeland Security will be starting an "Explorer Program" for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 years old.

The 14-year-old participants must have completed the eighth grade.

The program is a "Learning for Life" career education program for young men and women, officials said. Involvement in the program prepares the participants to successfully deal with the complexities of today's society and enhances their self-confidence and motivation.

In addition, the "Explorer Program" aims to help develop social and life skills, assist in character development, and formulate positive personal values. Exploring also aims to encourage young people to fulfill personal development needs while working to meet the needs of others.
