Prince George's wins digital honor

Aug. 2, 2010, 12 a.m. - Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson announced that Prince George’s County government was awarded second in the nation for using technology to achieve operating efficiencies and strategic objectives, amid the nation’s current economic challenges.

 

Johnson said, while remaining committed to technology services throughout county government, digital services to citizen were expanded providing more prevalent opportunities for citizen engagement.

 

"Prince George’s County Government aggressively improving its ranking for three consecutive years, is evidence of our commitment in using technology to enhance government services and as a result assisted in providing a great quality of life for our citizens," Johnson said.

 

e.Republic's Center for Digital Government (Center) Digital Communities program highlights the best examples of how information and communication technology (ICT) are used to support and provide public service through its annual Digital Counties Survey.  The annual study by the Center and the National Association of Counties (NACo), selected Prince George’s County Government as 2nd place among the top 10 counties nationally in the 2010 Digital Counties Survey for exemplary electronic services to their public in the category of counties with 500,000 or more in population.

 

"Across America counties continue working to balance their local priorities with new responsibilities passed to them from the federal and state governments" said NACo Executive Director Larry E. Naake. "The Digital Counties Survey identifies the very best examples of how counties are aligning technology to support strategic priorities and create crucial operational and administrative efficiencies."
